Inspiration

Those atomic-age bowling alleys with their swooping rooflines and fountain courtyards, where teenagers once dreamed of perfect games and perfect dates, both equally impossible.

Meaning

The fountain still swirls in its retro patterns while the lanes lie silent. This tile captures the death of social recreation - we bowled together once, celebrated strikes with strangers. Now the fountain performs for empty benches and atomic-age light poles.
