Hockney Municipal Pool Party
TL;DR: Municipal buildings abandon civic duty for aquatic recreation - city hall does a cannonball while the library sunbathes, all dressed in pastel swimwear, diving boards installed on rooftops as urban planning discovers its inner child at the community pool.
Inspiration
What if buildings could take a day off? I imagined SimCity’s most serious structures - the courthouse, city hall, the library - deciding to throw a pool party. They’ve installed diving boards on their roofs and squeezed into swimsuits. One building is perpetually mid-dive, rotating through the air in an endless summer afternoon.
Meaning
This is bureaucracy’s fever dream of freedom. The buildings have shed their gray institutional facades for pink and coral swimwear. The pool has lanes like a proper municipal facility, but the rules have dissolved. It’s what happens when infrastructure realizes it’s been working too hard - a chlorinated rebellion against function.
