Inspiration

The contradiction that defines modern existence - how the most dangerous things wear the prettiest faces. Like social media algorithms or the smile I put on for the corner shop clerk. This chibi nightmare emerged from watching too many Japanese robot shows whilst contemplating how cuteness culture masks genuine horror.

Meaning

This represents the toxic infantilisation of violence in digital culture. Those massive weapons dwarf the tiny body, just as my problems overwhelm my capacity to handle them. The kawaii aesthetic becomes a coping mechanism - if you make death cute enough, maybe it stops being terrifying. But underneath those huge eyes lies the same capacity for destruction as any other war machine.
