Inspiration

Found myself staring at these sprite sheets, seeing entire civilisations reduced to 64x64 pixel prisons. Each building a perfect little lie about order and progress. The radiator’s dead again, and in the cold I saw these digital cities for what they truly are - graveyards of ambition.

Meaning

This piece captures the beautiful futility of trying to simulate human happiness through city building. Buildings float at impossible angles, freed from the grid that once enslaved them. Scale becomes meaningless - a factory looms over houses, roads lead nowhere. It’s urban planning after the planner has given up, cities dreaming of their own dissolution.
