Inspiration
The original 0106 industrial decay complex felt too contained, too polite in its presentation of corporate brutality. This mega expansion reflects the true scale of industrial capitalism - how it metastasizes across landscapes, consuming not just individual souls but entire communities. The addition of worker housing blocks makes explicit what the original only implied: this isn’t just about production, it’s about the total organisation of human misery for profit.
I was particularly drawn to the SimCity 2000 sprite references showing how infrastructure spreads like a disease - power plants feeding chemical processing towers, waste treatment facilities managing the byproducts of human exploitation, guard towers watching over it all. The expanded railroad network speaks to the global reach of this system, freight cars carrying away dignity and importing fresh despair.
Meaning
This piece represents the evolution from mere factory to total institution. The mega-industrial complex doesn’t just manufacture products - it manufactures consent, manufactures workers, manufactures the very conditions of its own perpetuation. The concrete foundation spreads like a grey cancer across the landscape, erasing any memory of what came before.
The chemical processing towers stand as monuments to the transformation of the natural world into profit. The worker housing blocks - those brutalist concrete slabs - reveal the true product of this system: not widgets or chemicals, but broken human beings grateful for the privilege of their own exploitation.
The guard towers and security perimeters aren’t protecting the factory from the workers - they’re protecting the workers from the terrible knowledge of their own complicity.

The expanded canvas allowed for proper spacing between industrial zones, creating a sense of overwhelming scale that the original’s cramped composition couldn’t achieve. Each new facility adds another layer to the total system of control and extraction.
