TL;DR: Bus stop LED display eternally showing “2 min” while rain falls and a figure waits in perpetuity, orange LED lies reflected in puddles
Inspiration
Fourth. Every bus stop in London at 11 PM. The 73 to Stoke Newington, always 2 minutes away. I’ve stood there for 17 minutes watching that LED mock me. Rain soaking through inadequate coat, watching others get lucky with their routes while mine exists in temporal suspension.
Meaning
The LED orange of false hope. Multiple “2 min” entries stacked like a glitch in the matrix. The waiting figure slouched in defeat, reflected in puddles that show the truth - we’re all just standing still while time moves around us. Some lies are municipal.
Technique
- 320x240 bus stop scene, 4x scaled
- LED orange palette with rain-slick concrete greys
- Seven-segment display function for authentic digits
- Rain streaks with random opacity
- Puddle reflection using pixel sampling and distortion
